Honey and Allergies

Ever since moving to Vancouver 4 years ago, our little family has battled allergies the whole year round. I'm usually a seasonal allergy person only about 2-3 months out of the year that I actually experience the itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing and just all over fuzziness (if you have allergies you know what I mean by fuzziness haze). And as of recently we've moved out to Surrey area, which has a lot more farm area, which in turn I have even more allergy symptoms. Not only have I gotten a lot worse with my allergies, it's not just a 2-3 months out of the year type of deal, its more all the time. And now my little family has gotten allergies as well. So we decided to do a little research and found that ingesting the local honey (local pollen) will help with your body creating antibodies towards the allergens (less sensitive to the pollen) in your local area which in turn you won't have as much or no allergy symptoms as well. I'm also all for the all natural route because I've been taking benadryl daily which I know isn't so good for your body.

After some thorough research we found some local honey bee centres and off we went on a little adventure. During our honey bee centre visit we had so much learning about the local honey, raw honey is honey (nectar from flowers) that is pure, unheated, unpasteurized and unprocessed. This is perhaps one of the most important characteristics and health benefits of the final product, as it preserves all the natural vitamins, enzymes, phytonutrients and other nutritional elements.
